Hey Simon, nice picture. I'm thinking you might like to check out a book called 'Painting People: Figure Painting Today' which I discovered recently at an ABC book shop. There's some nice new portrait stuff from painters like Elizabeth Peyton, John Currin and check out Anna Bjerger. Freud is in there too, of course. From what I saw, it's chock full of inspiring goodness!...
I'd like to do more portrait work, my practices have been very satisfying, getting a likeness is such a thrill, and capturing a pressence more so. I'm almost brave enough now to start approaching models other than myself and family, not that they had a choice :)
Great to see you doing another portrait Simon. I have to ask, what was young Lili looking at? Her expression has sparked my interest; she looks just a little perturbed about something. Another moment in time beautifully captured by you; priceless treasures for Lili to keep one day.
I can't remember what she would have been looking at, but it was at a park and there were plenty of kids around. She was only about 2-3 months at most and probably wanted to go climbing. Its definately no glamour shot of either of them. I was hoping more than anything to capture that rewarding chill-out moment that you can get when something else provides the attention.
I wanted to let you know that Fuelmyblog has had some surgery done and lots of changes have happened.
